Risks
What can go wrong, plainly. Read this before relying on Fuelgauge or buying any coin.
#What Fuelgauge does not control
- The team. A budget shows who gets paid, not what they deliver.
- The payees. Once paid, SOL is the payee's to spend.
- The price. Fees, budgets, burns and gauges do not set a coin's price, and neither does the $GAUGE burn.
- Trading volume. No trading means no fees; the gauge runs down.
#Technology risks
Programs. Fuelgauge relies on pump.fun's programs (including fee sharing), Squads v4 and Solana. A flaw or an upgrade in any of them could change how a vault or split behaves.
Off-chain rules. These are run by Fuelgauge's keeper:
- the sunset's timing, buyback and burn;
- proof URL checks;
- automatic payments;
- the $GAUGE buy and burn.
If the keeper stops, they stop. If its key were stolen, an attacker could move up to each coin's weekly sunset cap into that coin's sunset wallet, and pay automatic lines early to their own payees. See Trust model.
Editable vaults. Their creators can change them after the time lock, including withdrawing. The page shows pending changes, but cannot stop them.
Market impact. Sunset and $GAUGE buys are capped per buy, but any buy moves a small market.
#Copycats
Copycat tickers appear within hours of any launch. A coin's page shows its mint in full. Always compare it with what you buy. Fuelgauge never asks for your keys or seed phrase, and never sends you tokens to claim.
#Data
The site reads Solana through RPC providers and refreshes about every ten minutes. Numbers can lag the chain. When in doubt, check it yourself.
