The gauge, exactly
The formulas behind days funded, fee coverage and the sunset clock.

#Daily cost
Each line's amount spread over its period, added up:
daily cost = Σ line amount × 86 400 s ÷ period length
(day = 1 day, week = 7 days, month = 30 days)
Amounts are in lamports and divided as whole numbers, so a line of 0.1 SOL a month costs 3,333,333 lamports a day.
#Days funded
days funded = (vault balance − 0.001 SOL) ÷ daily cost (whole days)
The 0.001 SOL is kept back so the vault account stays rent-exempt. The gauge's needle reaches F at 60 days and stays there above it; the number below the needle still shows the exact days. A budget with no lines has no daily cost, so its gauge shows a dash.
#Fee coverage
fee coverage = (SOL received by the vault in the last 7 days ÷ 7) ÷ daily cost
Shown as a percentage:
| Coverage | What it means |
|---|---|
| Above 100% | Trading pays for the whole budget and the vault is filling |
| 100% | Trading exactly pays for the budget |
| Below 100% | The budget spends more than trading brings in; the gauge will fall |
#The sunset clock
idle since = the latest of: the listing time, the last payment to any budget line
sunset due = idle since + idle days
A payment counts from the vault's receipts, which are read from chain, and from the keeper's own record of what it paid.
#What the numbers do not say
The gauge measures money, not work. A line paid every month says the payee was paid, not what they delivered. Read the creator's notes, check the payees, and look at the product itself.
