How it works

How the money moves

From a trade to a budget payment or a burn, step by step.

1. A trade pays a creator fee

Every buy and sell of a pump.fun coin charges a creator fee. Before graduation it builds up on the coin's bonding curve; after graduation, in its PumpSwap pool.

2. pump.fun splits it

A coin on Fuelgauge uses pump.fun's own fee sharing, set to two shareholders: the coin's vault (95%) and the $GAUGE burn wallet (5%). Paying out the accrued fees is permissionless: anyone can trigger it, and the money can only go to the shareholders. Fuelgauge's keeper triggers it whenever at least 0.05 SOL has built up, and pays the network fee itself.

3. The vault pays its budget

The vault is a Squads v4 multisig. SOL leaves it only through its spending limits: one per budget line, each with one payee and a cap per period, plus the sunset line. On a locked vault no other transaction can ever execute.

4. The burns

$GAUGE burn. The burn wallet buys $GAUGE with what it receives and burns everything it buys. See $GAUGE and the burn.

Sunset burn. If no line is paid for the idle period, the vault's SOL moves through the sunset line to the coin's sunset wallet, which buys the coin itself back and burns it. See The sunset.
